2023 Karting Rules and Regulations

 The 2023 racing season will be hosting 6 divisions.

(These divisions are listed at the bottom of the page.)

 

GENERAL GUIDELINES

​

​

1.  All persons entering the pit area must stop at the pit gate and purchase a pit pass and sign the insurance waiver. Pit fees are $10.00 for the driver, crew members and spectators, $15.00 for the kart. Anyone found without the proper wrist band will be asked to go pay and sign in, or you may be asked to leave the race event. 

​

2. All racers under age 18 must have a signed and notarized minor release form from a parent/guardian before entering the pits. These forms are good for the whole year.

​

3. This is a family sport; foul language and fighting are prohibited. No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the property. Violations will result in a minimum of ejection from the event and one-week suspension for that person.  Please set a positive example!

​

4. Under no circumstance will anyone argue with or approach any official in a disruptive manner. Violators may be penalized, disqualified, ejected, or suspended. Constructive criticism, sharing ideas, and asking questions with appropriate tone is always welcome.

 

5. Meetings will be held at each race event at 9:30 am to review or go over-rules and any other changes. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, that’s why the officials are there!

6.  We have hired people to do a job. If you do not agree with a decision made by us or our staff we can and will gladly discuss the issue but we will not force our employees to change their minds as they were hired to perform a job.

       

GENERAL SAFETY

​

1. Please take extra time to make sure that all drivers and team members understand and adhere to rules, flags, and all other procedures.

 

2. Fire extinguishers are required in every trailer or pit space.

 

3. Under no circumstance will anyone enter the track on foot or by any other means during a race without consent of a track official.

 

4. Karts may not be driven in the pit area; karts may be pushed, pulled, or carried. 

 

5. All karts are subject to initial safety inspection and random checks throughout the season. Safety issues must be fixed before the next race unless the issue is an immediate hazard and needs immediate repairs for the safety of the driver. If a kart returns the following week and no attempt has been made to fix the issue, the kart will not be allowed to participate.

​

6. Drivers are required to wear a full-face helmet with a shield or other eye protection, neck brace or collar, long sleeve shirt, full-length pants, full-finger gloves, and footwear that covers the ankle area completely. Long hair must be tucked in or tied up. No loose clothing. Flame resistant clothing and chest protectors are highly recommended. 

​

KART SAFETY

​

`1. A full nose that covers the outside of both front tires and up over the driver’s foot area is required on all karts. No metal shields or backing on the nose of the kart.

​

2. Kart seat must be mounted. The seat cannot pass the vertical plane of a line drawn from the rear axle. Seat must be at least 8 inches above the rear axle at the top edge of the back of the seat.

 

3. A shield is required over the top of the brake rotor, between rotor and back of the seat area. Must be made of solid material – no plastic

 

4. Chain guards required on the engine; must cover chain and clutch area when viewed from the top.

​

5. Rear-axle must have snap rings at both ends. Front spindles and all steering parts must be drilled and pinned or wired.

 

6. No limited slip rear hubs. All rear hubs must be locked to the axle by a keyway.

​

7. All lead or ballast must be painted white and have the kart number on it. No ballast of any kind will be allowed on the driver.

​

8.  Kart must have a proper working SFI rated 5 point harness and must be uo to date.

​

9.  Arm restraints must be properly installed and used at all times.

   

FLAGS

​

1. GREEN FLAG – GO!   The race has started.

​

2. YELLOW FLAG – CAUTION! Slow down, drive in single-file, stay in position, do not pass. Pay attention to officials

​

3. RED FLAG – STOP! There is a dangerous situation that needs immediate attention.

      

4. BLUE FLAG WITH DIAGONAL STRIPE – The "Lap Flag".  Safely move to the in/outside lane and let the leaders pass. 

​

5. BLACK FLAG – Go to the pit area and wait for instructions from an official. (This does not necessarily indicate a disqualification).

​

6. TWO CROSSED FLAGS making an X – The race has reached the halfway point.

​

7. TWO PARALLEL FLAGS – There are two laps remaining in the race.

​

8. WHITE FLAG – One lap remaining.

  

9. CHECKERED FLAG – The race has ended.

​

 RACE PROCEDURES

​

1. The first pace lap off pit road is the official start of a race.

​

2. A race may be stopped at any time by the race director or flag man.

​

3. In the event of a Yellow Flag caution period and/or a Red Flag stoppage, the subsequent restart order will be determined by the running order of the last fully completed lap. Any kart(s) that were involved in the incident that caused the caution/stoppage will be placed at the rear of the running order.  If no laps have been completed, we will go back to the initial line-up, with the involved karts at the rear.

​

4. In the event of caution after the White Flag has been thrown, the ONLY next flags to be thrown are the Checked and Yellow Flag.

 

5. All karts that pit for repairs must go to the rear of the running order upon returning to the track.

​

6. Any kart ordered to stop on track by a race official for inspection may be allowed to get its position back if no subsequent repairs are required.

      

7. Any kart requiring assistance for any reason must go to the rear; however, any kart requiring assistance after being stopped by an official may assume its position held before being stopped, unless instructed otherwise.

​

8. Any driver refusing to pay attention to a flag, signal, or any other direction from an official may be penalized.

​

9. Any driver who, in the judgment of the race director or flag man, deliberately causes a race to be halted or delayed may be penalized.

​

10. When the checkered flag has been given to the leader/winner, the rest of the field will receive the checkered flag in the same lap and the race is finished.

 

LINE-UP'S AND POINTS

​

1. Numbers must be in colors that contrast to the body color and should be 6 inches tall, mounted on all four sides of the kart. Numbers that are not legible (as deemed by scoring officials) must be corrected or the kart may not be scored.

​

2. New drivers will be required to start in the rear of the field for a minimum of one events.

​

3. Officials may also place cars that are late to the starting grid at the rear of the starting lineup.

​

4.  Failure to be ready will result in starting in the rear.

​

5. Points are earned by drivers (not karts) during any race.

​​

6. The previous event’s top 3 winners will be required to start in the rear.

​​

7. Finishing positions shall be determined according to the number of laps completed and running positions, regardless of whether the car is running at the end of the race or not.

​​

8.Point Structure: Feature winners in all divisions are awarded 30 points. Each position back is awarded two (2) less points than the previous position. Heat winners in all divisions are awarded 10 points for winning, and each position back receives two (2) points less than the previous position.No points are awarded for non-qualifier/consolation events in any division. Drivers must cross the start/finish and take the initial green flag and complete a full lap under green flag conditions during a feature race to receive feature points.Points are awarded to the driver. Any discrepancy in points or finishes must be addressed within 2 weeks of the event. Competitors must compete a minimum of 1/2 of the scheduled race events to qualify for any trophies.

​

9. In the case of ties for overall championship position, tiebreakers will be as follows:

             * The driver with the most feature victories during the season will earn the higher overall position.

             *  If the number of wins is the same, the driver with the most second-place finishes will earn a higher                         overall position. Repeat for third-place, fourth-place, etc., until tie is broken.

             *  If all feature finishes during the season are the same, the driver with the better finish in the final race                       of the season will be the champion.

 

KART RULES

​

1.Top-finishing karts must report directly to the technical inspection area before returning to his/her pit area. Violators may be penalized and/or disqualified.

​

2. All Carbs must be stock for engines.                                                              

​

3. Plain pure methanol fuel is the only fuel allowed; no colored or dyed fuels will be allowed. Fuel will be subject to water test, specific gravity test, and other tests. Contamination could cause fuel to fail technical inspection and lead to disqualification. ​

​

4. Tire Softener IS Not allowed.

​​

5.  Tech will allow a 3lb difference for track scales versus home scales.

 

6.  Any engine used in a race during an event is subject to inspection, even if teams change engines between heat races and feature races.

​​

7.  All engine claims must be made during tech of that race, any claims after the kart leaves tech will not be allowed.

​​

8.  You must present CASH ONLY to Wayne before you can claim an engine.

​​

9. Tech reserves the right to send your engine to a professional for teardowns, or to install digital tachs, or any other forms of teching.

​​

10. All gaskets must be placed properly on the plate and cannot be torn or have pieces missing.

​

11. If you build your own chassis and/or cage it must be as strong as a professional build and must be steel.

​

12. Must have stock exhaust and stock intake for the engine.

​​

13. Maximum wheel width is 52 inches.

​​

14. All bodywork must be rounded off and free from sharp edges.

​​

15. Lexan rub rails are not allowed, please use plexiglass.

​​

16. Any kart that wins three races in a row can be subjected to a motor confiscation. The motor can be brought to a WKA engine builder and tested for approved WKA specs. If the engine is legal Speedway Karting will pay all expenses. If the motor is found to be illegal the KART OWNER will be responsible to pick up the motor and pay the bill.

 

 

     PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BREAK, ALTER, AND OR CHANGE ANY OF THESE RULES AS IT WILL RESULT IN BEING DISQUALIFIED FROM THE RACING EVENT.

Mini Kids Class 

  • Ages 4-7 Years Old – With no more than 2-years previous experience

  • Chassis - Kids Kart or Jr Champ

  • Engine - 73cc predator engine. Stock no altering

  • Weight 225 lbs with Driver 

  • Clutch - Drum clutch only. No disc clutch

 

Junior Kids Class

  • Ages 8-12

  • Chassis - Rocker or junior champ  or senior champ

  • Engine - 212 CC Predator Engine stock – NO ALTERING

  • Weight 300 lbs with Driver

 

Flathead

  • Ages 8-12 Years Old

  • Chassis - Rocker or junior champ

  • Engine -   Purple Plate

  • Weight 315 ibs

LO206 

  • Age 8-14

  • Chassis - Rocker or Junior Champ

  • Engine - Stocked LO 206 Engine Purple Plate 

  • Weight - 360 lbs

​​

​Adult Predator

  • Ages 15 and up -  Must have 1 YEAR Experience

  • Chassis - Rocker or senior champ

  • Engine - Open

  • Weight 375 lbs with Driver
